Description
A deliciously indulgent cake featuring layers of rich flavors, combining creamy cheesecake, moist chocolate cake, and a hint of espresso.
Ingredients
1 box of chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients to make the cake as per package instructions)
1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon espresso powder (optional)
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan and set aside.
- Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions, then pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and eggs until smooth and creamy.
- Gently spread the cream cheese mixture over the chocolate cake batter, ensuring an even layer.
- In a small bowl, mix the sour cream, powdered sugar, and espresso powder (if using) until smooth. Spread this mixture evenly over the cream cheese layer.
- Sprinkle mini chocolate chips over the top, if desired.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the cake is set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool completely before slicing into squares to serve.
Notes
- If you do not like espresso, you can omit the espresso powder for a purely chocolate and cream flavor.
- Mini chocolate chips are optional, but they add a great texture and extra chocolatey indulgence.
- Make sure to let the cake cool completely to ensure perfect slices.
