- 2 tsp salt, divided
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 2 tsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato puree
- 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 1/2 cups cooked white rice
- 1/2 large green cabbage (or 1 small), cored and chopped
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1. Prepare the Sauce:
- Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook for 5 minutes. Season with 1 tsp salt and black pepper.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
- Mix in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, tomato puree, and diced tomatoes. Simmer for 15–20 minutes.
- Stir in cooked rice and set aside.
2. Cook the Cabbage:
- Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add chopped cabbage and cook for 5–7 minutes until softened. Season with remaining 1 tsp salt.
3. Assemble the Casserole:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a baking dish. Spread 1/3 of the beef mixture at the bottom, layer with 1/2 of the cabbage, and repeat. Top with remaining beef mixture.
4. Bake the Casserole:
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove foil, sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top, and bake uncovered for 10–15 more minutes until bubbly and golden.
