Description
These festive taco bites feature a patriotic red, white, and blue color scheme, making them the perfect appetizer for the 4th of July.
Ingredients
Nonstick cooking spray
1 pound ground beef
1 (1.25 ounce) package taco seasoning mix
35 round blue corn tortilla chips
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese, divided
1 cup red salsa
½ cup sour cream, divided
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and spray with nonstick cooking spray.
- Cook and stir ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned and crumbly, about 8 minutes. Drain excess oil from the skillet.
- Stir in taco seasoning until well mixed. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, then remove the beef mixture to a paper towel-lined plate to soak up any excess moisture.
- Spread tortilla chips in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they don’t overlap.
- Top each chip with a small amount of cheese, a spoonful of the beef mixture, some salsa, and a little sour cream. Sprinkle remaining cheese over the top of each chip.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
- Pipe or dollop a small amount of the remaining sour cream on top of each taco bite. Serve on a platter and enjoy!
Notes
- You may need to use two baking sheets to keep the chips in a single layer.
- Be careful to keep the cheese on the tortilla chips to avoid sticking to the baking sheet.
- Perfect for a festive occasion like the 4th of July.
