  1. Melt chocolate and butter – In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the chocolate and butter, stirring constantly. Transfer to a bowl and let cool for 8-10 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven & prepare pan – Preheat to 350°F (180°C). Line a 9-inch (or 8-inch) square baking pan with parchment paper.
  3. Mix wet ingredients – Whisk sugar into the cooled chocolate mixture. Add eggs one at a time, whisking well. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Add dry ingredients – Sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Fold into the wet mixture, then gently fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Layer the brownies – Spread half of the batter into the pan. Place 16 whole Oreos over it. Spread the remaining batter on top, then sprinkle crushed Oreos.
  6. Bake – Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Cool & serve – Let brownies cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.

Notes

  • For extra fudgy brownies, do not overbake.
  • Use Dutch-process cocoa for a richer chocolate flavor.
