Description

A rich and creamy chocolate mousse made with mascarpone cheese for a luxurious twist on the classic dessert. Perfect for elegant dinners or a quick yet decadent sweet fix.

Ingredients

200g dark chocolate (at least 60% cocoa), chopped

250g mascarpone cheese

1/2 cup powdered sugar (adjust to taste)

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup heavy cream (chilled)

A pinch of salt

Optional toppings: whipped cream, chocolate shavings, cocoa powder, berries

Instructions

  1. Melt the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method), stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese with powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth and creamy.
  3. Gently fold the cooled melted chocolate into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.
  4. In another chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  5. Fold the whipped cream into the chocolate-mascarpone mixture in batches, using a spatula and being careful not to deflate the mousse.
  6. Spoon or pipe the mousse into serving glasses or bowls.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until set.
  8. Before serving, garnish with your choice of toppings like whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or fresh berries.

Notes

  • Ensure that the melted chocolate is not too hot when mixing with the mascarpone; it should be slightly cooled to avoid curdling.
  • Chill the mousse for at least 2 hours for the best texture and taste.
  • Adjust the sweetness to your taste by adding more or less powdered sugar.
