Description

These soft, sweet maple cookies are topped with a luscious maple icing, making them the perfect treat for any maple lover.

Ingredients

For the cookies:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup maple syrup

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 large egg

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

For the maple icing:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons maple syrup

1 tablespoon milk (or more for desired consistency)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, maple syrup, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Add in the egg and mix until fully incorporated.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Flatten each dough ball slightly with the back of a spoon.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
  10. While the cookies cool, prepare the icing by whisking together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  11. Drizzle or spread the maple icing over the cooled cookies. Let the icing set before serving.

  • Add more milk to the icing if it seems too thick.
