Description

Crispy and caramelized fried apple slices with a hint of cinnamon and sugar. Perfect as a sweet snack or dessert.

Ingredients

3 large apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 egg

1/2 cup milk

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon sugar (optional, for extra sweetness)

1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (for coating)

2 tablespoons butter or oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin rounds or wedges.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1 cup of flour.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and vanilla extract.
  4. Heat butter or oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.
  5. Dip each apple slice into the wet mixture, then coat it evenly with the dry flour mixture.
  6. Carefully place the coated apple slices into the hot frying pan and fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
  7. While frying, mix the 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon in a small bowl.
  8. Remove the fried apples from the pan and drain on paper towels. While still warm, toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  9. Serve immediately, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce.

Notes

  • Best enjoyed fresh and warm for optimal crispiness and flavor.
  • Adjust cinnamon and sugar coating to taste.
  • Use Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples for the best results due to their firm texture.
