Description
Crispy and caramelized fried apple slices with a hint of cinnamon and sugar. Perfect as a sweet snack or dessert.
Ingredients
3 large apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon sugar (optional, for extra sweetness)
1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (for coating)
2 tablespoons butter or oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin rounds or wedges.
- In a small bowl, combine the 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1 cup of flour.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and vanilla extract.
- Heat butter or oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.
- Dip each apple slice into the wet mixture, then coat it evenly with the dry flour mixture.
- Carefully place the coated apple slices into the hot frying pan and fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
- While frying, mix the 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Remove the fried apples from the pan and drain on paper towels. While still warm, toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Serve immediately, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
Notes
- Best enjoyed fresh and warm for optimal crispiness and flavor.
- Adjust cinnamon and sugar coating to taste.
- Use Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples for the best results due to their firm texture.
