Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 cups cottage cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • Brown the beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until fully browned. Drain excess fat. Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Prepare cheese mixture: In a bowl, mix cottage cheese, egg, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  • Assemble the lasagna:
    • Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce in a baking dish.
    • Layer 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce.
    • Spread half of the cottage cheese mixture over the noodles.
    • Add ⅓ of the ground beef, followed by marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.
    • Repeat with another layer of noodles, cottage cheese, ground beef, marinara, and mozzarella.
    • Top with the last 3 noodles, the remaining sauce, Parmesan cheese, and the remaining mozzarella.
  • Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for 15-20 more minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  • Rest & Serve: Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired. Enjoy!
