Ingredients
- 9 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2 cups cottage cheese
- 1 large egg
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Brown the beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until fully browned. Drain excess fat. Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Prepare cheese mixture: In a bowl, mix cottage cheese, egg, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Assemble the lasagna:
- Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce in a baking dish.
- Layer 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce.
- Spread half of the cottage cheese mixture over the noodles.
- Add ⅓ of the ground beef, followed by marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat with another layer of noodles, cottage cheese, ground beef, marinara, and mozzarella.
- Top with the last 3 noodles, the remaining sauce, Parmesan cheese, and the remaining mozzarella.
- Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for 15-20 more minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Rest & Serve: Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired. Enjoy!
