Description

Light and airy pastries filled with a smooth, rich cream filling, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

For the Puff Pastry:

1 cup water

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

4 large eggs

For the Cream Filling:

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1 tablespoon powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, bring the water and butter to a boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Once the butter has melted and the water is boiling, remove the pan from the heat and stir in the flour and salt until the mixture forms a ball.
  4. Return the pan to the heat and cook the dough for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the dough becomes slightly dry.
  5. Remove from heat again and let the dough cool for a few minutes. Then, add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. The dough should be smooth and glossy.
  6. Use a spoon or piping bag to form small mounds of dough (about 1.5 inches in diameter) onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the puffs are golden and puffed up. Let them cool completely on a wire rack.
  8. For the Cream Filling: In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  9. Once the puffs have cooled, carefully slice each in half and pipe or spoon the whipped cream into the center.
  10. Top with the puff's lid and serve immediately, or refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Ensure the dough is not too hot when adding the eggs, otherwise the eggs might cook prematurely.
  • The cream puffs are best served fresh, but can be stored in the fridge for a few hours before serving.
  • You may sprinkle powdered sugar on top for a decorative finish.
